February 16, 2004 ( Monday, February 16, 2004 ) Back from Calgary...here's a play by play Thursday We left around 3:30 and everything went well until we stopped for food in Banff. We had dinner and then got a bit lost..heh..While entering Calgary we discovered that Chris can do a dead-on impersonation of Peach from Finding Nemo. The bad part about this discovery was that we were getting more and more lost the more he did it. Eventually Chris ended up mistaking "Cancer Center" for "City Center". We finally made it to Scott's house, although later than planned because I got us lost. Thursday night was ok...it wasn't as fun as we had planned but it was still great to be with Scott. Friday Scott had to get up at 5:30 to go to work so after Chris, Erin, and I got up we drove down to meet him for lunch. We were a tad early but all turned out good. We went to the Devonian Gardens which was fun. Quote "That's the hottest turtle orgy I've ever seen. We walked past a couple who had just gotten engaged but left shortly after because there were birds flying around. *shudder*. After lunch we went back to Scott's work so he could give us a mini-tour and then he ended up lending us his Calgary Tower card so we could be tourists....after visiting the Calgary Tower, we attemted to head down to the Chinook Center, although we got a little lost in Olympic-Land. We walked around the Chinook Center for a while, I was dissapointed that the Disney Store didn't have Alice In Wonderland toys..*glare*. So after walking around the mall for like 6 hours, Scott came down and we went for dinner at Moxies. I suggest that you never order a "schooner" on Fear No Beer Fridays...it was bigger than my head. After dinner we went back to Scott's and watched The Wedding Planner. Saturday Valentines Day! Our intentions were to go to the zoo but it was freakin' cold and we would have only had about an hour to walk around. We went to Ikea and played around there, Erin and I climed into a weird castle thing and then got into one of the beds. After Ikea we went to Future Shop and then to Starbucks. We decided that we were going to take the C-train downtown so that Chris could experience it for the first time. I think he had fun...while downtown we made an unplanned stop at the Calgary Tower and took some pictures before trying to make it back to the train station on the +15. While at the train station, we walked by a garbage can that was on fire and shortly after a fire truck pulled up and asked us where the fire was. It was quite amusing to watch 6 firemen put out a small garbage can fire. We took the train back to the car before heading back to Scott's and then to Safeway. I made dinner, which apparently was good. It was a little scary making it, I spilled rice all over the floor (Scott baby, you need a broom). After dinner we watched part of Lilo and Stitch but we were all too tired to watch the whole thing. It was the best Valentines Day ever. Sunday The last day :(. We ended up going for lunch at Wendy's and then heading over to the zoo. Apparently Chris has the same fear of large birds as I do as we were both on the verge of tears while walking through the bird aviary. We spent the most time looking at the Polar Bear cubs and the Hippos, but we left the hippo exhibit shortly after they...well...pooped. Erin and I almost got sprayed by Tiger stuff, but I managed to get out of the way in time. I was so dissapointed to find that the exhibit that the sloths were in was closed. *cries* After the zoo we went back to Scott's to get ready to come back to Cranbrook. We left at around 7:00 and made it back around 12:00. I miss Scott already. The more time I spend with him, the more memories I create with him, the more I miss him. Everytime I go into a weekend with him feeling like I couldn't be closer, but I always come out feeling closer to him than ever before. I don't know what I would do without him. I'm scared to think of what life would be like without having him. |
