March 14, 2005 ( Monday, March 14, 2005 ) I went for a jog today...it was cold. So, the Calgary trip was much fun! Thursday Scott and I left after work. We did some geocaching along the way and made it to Calgary around 10:00. Then we, along with Annalise decided to go bowling. That was an adventure. I think we thouroughly freaked out the people next to us. Annalise dropped the ball a few times and screamed rather loudly when she got a spare. After bowling we went to Denny's where we started up a quote napkin. Friday morning we woke up early-ish and headed over to Market Mall so Annalise could pick up her paycheque. Then we drove back to Annalise's and then took the C-Train to Chinook. I didn't spend as much money as I thought I would, only bought some running shoes, some CD's, and a suit jacket thing from the Gap. When we left the mall it was pouring outside and we had to run back to the train station. Once we got home we rushed to get ready and then headed to the concert. We parked a hell of a long way away and had to navigate through UofC. We ended up getting seats at a table right in front of the stage which was great. The concert itself was really good. The opening acts were both very very good. I liked Jeremy Fisher and Scott like Jorane. That girl can play a mean cello. During Jeremy's set his harmonica went out of tune and he asked if anyone wanted it so I put up my hand and he threw it to me. After a brief intermission and a long wait for the bathrooms, Sarah came on stage. She was a lot different than the last time I saw her. She was very animated, a lot grungier...not as delicate. Still amazing though. I really enjoyed hearing all the new songs. Afterwards we waitied with a small group so she could sign my CD and book. When I handed her my book she said "It's joel right?"...she knew my name before I told her...how...strange...lol. We chatted for a tiny bit before we left and let the others have their chance. After the concert we went to Pizza Hut for food and then to Kilkenny's for a few drinks. We were tucked in the corner and it was nice to have the little spot to ourselves. The next day we had to get up early for scott's chiropractor appointment and Annalise was leaving with her friend to go back to Cranbrook. After Scott's appointment, we went to South Center and bought a present for Ciara and visited the Disney store. Then it was off to The Olive Garden to meet up with Scott's friend Corrine. It was a nice lunch, and she was very friendly. After lunch we went to the MASSIVE new IKEA. It was two floors and just bigger than all reason. We bought a few little things and then we were on our way home. We stopped to do some more geocaches on the way home. Once back in Cranbrook we headed over to my parent's house for my Dad's birthday dinner that we missed, but made it in time for cake. Talked with family for a bit before coming home and going to bed. Sunday we decided to do another cache at a lookout over the city. It was a really nice walk up to the lookout point. We had lunch watching the rain clouds cover the city and headed back just as the rain was hitting. Then we came home and cleaned up a bit. Had some supper, cleaned some more and then read a bit before going to bed. I'm reading this book right now and so far it's really good. I haven't gotten to the part where he has to cut off his arm, but so far it's already pretty tense. |
