April 13, 2006 ( Thursday, April 13, 2006 ) Calgary part 2 was much fun. We left at 7 which was....not the best time, but it was alright. There was a huge accident near banff due to the blizzard but thankfully we made to Calgary in one piece. We took the clients to Ikea because they'd never been there before. It was fun to show them around, although they didn't really seem to like it as much as the staff did...lol. After that we went to our hotel which was right downtown. It was called 5. It's this huge skyrise that used to be apartments but was converted into a hotel. So it's pretty much just renting an apartment for a night. It was actually pretty nice. We were on the 25th floor and for a short while we all had fun pouring glasses of water off the balcony, trying to get the pedestrians below. We didn't get anyone. We headed down to the saddledome to pick up our tickets to the Flames game and after a long and boring wait, involving several fits of rage and/or panic, we started our ascent to our seats. I was a bit nervous being in a crowd of 20,000 people and trying to make sure our clients stayed together. For a while I felt like a sherpa as 3 people grabbed onto various articles of clothing to keep from being left behind. The game itself was pretty fun, the Flames won and it was a madhouse every time they scored. Even though we had less than ideal seats, it wasn't as bad as I envisioned. After the game we had passes to meet the players from the Mighty Ducks which was pretty neat. They were super nice to the clients and signed a bunch of stuff. We went back to our hotel to order pizza and then go to bed. The next day we went to the Zoo which is always fun. I love the african exhibit and the Giraffes are my absolute favourite. I can't wait to go back next year when the baby giraffe is born! The rest of the zoo was fun and I caved in and bought popcorn which is a musthave at the zoo. I'm sure everyone knows this already but my number one all-time fear, is large birds. I had a close call with a peacock this time and I nearly lost a shoelace to a duck. After the zoo we headed home and saw most of the animals from the Canadian Wilds exhibit on the ride home. I love home. |
