July 03, 2007 ( Tuesday, July 03, 2007 ) wow. what exactly do I say about the last two months? It's incredibly difficult to sum up everything into cohesive words. I will try my best to give a short (but how?) write-up on my otesha experience. On May 1st I left Cranbrook in the evening and watched the sun play on the mountains as I rode the bus to Golden. It was in a gas station that I met Erika and Jon, two of my Otesha teammates. We drifted in and out of sleep and conversations on our 14 hour ride to Vancouver. When we arrived, the rain sprinkled the park where we waiting anxiously for all our team to arrive, unfortunately my bike was nowhere to be found (which apparently was a common situation.) By the end of the day my bike was assembled and we had formed our Otesha Rocky Mountain Tour. Over the next 8 weeks we travelled as a tight group of friends, stopping in communities along our route and performed an entertaining and informative play about sustainability and social justice. We biked up 4 mountain passes (coquihalla, pennask, rogers pass, and kicking horse pass). We travelled approx 1500km all by bike, through rain, heat, snow, and hail. I had the trip of a life time that cannot be justified through simple words in a journal. I have returned from this trip, a different person in so many positive ways. I am filled with such a strong positive energy that I'm sure will motivate me for years to come. for a more detailed summary of our adventures please visit http//otesha.ca/bike+tours/tours+2007/rocky+mountain/journal.en.html |
